Welcome to Almost Home Rescue!

Almost Home Rescue (AHR) is a 501c3 non-profit all-breed rescue organization dedicated to saving lives and finding forever homes for stray, abandoned and surrendered dogs in danger of euthanasia. We are strictly a volunteer run organization and have no paid staff or board members. We rely on a network of volunteer foster homes and do not have a physical shelter. Almost Home Rescue holds a Maine state permit to import dogs.

Most of AHR’s dogs have come from Arkansas kill shelters, however we also take dogs from local shelters, veterinarians and other situations that require rescue.

All of our imported dogs arrive with a current Health Certificate, meet Maine and New Hampshire state import and vaccination requirements, wormed, microchipped and transported on an U.S.D.A. approved transport.
